The complete the suite of four prints, Babar’s Four Seasons (Summer and Winter prints were published in 2006; Spring and n 2006; Spring and Autumn in 2008) are based on illustrations for Babar’s Busy Year, a book that follows Babar and his family through the changing seasons. The colors in the Four Seasons prints are vibrant and rich, with each print consisting of 20 colors or more. Laurent de Brunhoff has only made eight original silkscreen prints in his entire career, all of which are published by Mary Ryan Gallery in New York. All are pencil signed and numbered by the artist.

In What Could Be Better Than Swimming in Summer?, Babar soaks up the sun and watches Celeste. Flora, Isabelle, and Pom enjoy the refreshing blue waters on a hot summer afternoon while Cousin Artur leaps from a tree into the water. Parrots, inspired by birds that Laurent de Brunhoff saw in Kew West, fly by.
